Jio 5G Launch in India: August 2022

As most of the Indian Jio users are waiting, the 5G Network is going to start soon. As per the updates from the sources, the 5G network is anticipated to launch in the month of August. The Jio 5G spectrum is going to launch soon in India.  

Jio 5G Spectrum: 5G Bands in India

Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has conducted the 5G auctions in India. In the auction, Jio acquired 24.7GHz of spectrum for Rs 88,078 crores. The Jio has made the highest bid having the largest spectrum pan-India (26.77 GHz).

Reliance Jio has bought 5G bands in all popular frequency bands:

700MHz (n28), 800MHz (n5), 1800MHz (n3), 3300MHz (n78), and the premium mmWave 26GHz (n258) bands.

700MHz is the lower band among all. Though it’s lower, the faster speed of 4G/LTE coverage will be there. This will work efficiently in all regions of India.

In the low-band 5G spectrum (also called sub-GHz ), Jio can offer the 5G services to each and every corner of the country. In the auction, Jio has bought 700MHz band across all the 22 circles in India and some 800MHz sub-GHz bands in 4 circles. Jio bought at least 2 x 10MHz in the 1800MHz band in 6 circles. The Jio has bought 100MHz in the 3300MHz band for all 22 circles. 2300MHz band was owned by the Jio in prominent circles. In mmWave 5G Bands, Jio acquired 1000MHz in the 26GHz frequency band in 22 circles.

Jio 5G Rollout: Launch Date

Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani has announced that Jio is going to celebrate “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” with a 5G rollout across India. As per the updates from the sources, the Jio is expected to start its 5G services on August 15, 2022, on India’s 76th Independence Day.

Initially, the 5G services may start at metro cities in India and later the services will be made accessible in other locations. It may take 2-3 months to extend the 5G services to all the places of India. The expansion to Tier 2 and Tier 3 regions might happen in next year January or so.

Jio 5G Supported Cities in India

Jio has bought 5G bands for all the 22 circles. Initially, the 5G services will be awarded in 9 cities in India. The cities include Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Jamnagar.

And also many more cities like Chandigarh, Pune, Gurugram, and Gandhinagar may get the 5G services on priority basis. The sources stating that more than 1000 cities are going to get the 5G coverage in 1^st phase of its launch. Jio is using various methods to reach the maximum customers with the help of 3D maps, tracing technology, and heat maps. 5G will be used in online live TV streaming, low-latency cloud gaming, virtual and augmented reality, tele-medicine, and others.

Jio 5G Upload/ Download Speeds

Jio has started 5G trails in 8 cities. While the speed varies from city to city. As per the reports, in Mumbai 5G speeds were 8x faster download speed that the 4G bandwidth. The 5G speeds up to 420Mbps and 412 Mbps in upload speeds. In India, this is the highest till now. While the mmWave or sub-6GHz band speed test was not done yet. The real speeds will be known after the launch of 5G.

Jio 5G Plans and Price in India

• Jio 5G plan will be somewhere between Rs 400 to Rs 500 per month.
• At present, Jio’s ARPU (average revenue per user) is around Rs 175.
